• Rare malignant tumour

• Arises in the alveoli

• Spreads along alveolar and bronchiolar epithelium

• Histologically resembles adenocarcinoma

• Can produce large amounts of mucin, causing copious sputum production (bronchorrhoea)

• CXR - can be diffuse shadowing, resembling pneumonic consolidation as opposed to a discrete mass, sometimes multi-focal

• Transbronchial biopsy for diagnosis

• When confined to one lobe, resection = treatment
